In recent years, the agricultural sector has been characterized by increasing attention to the issue of food safety. In addition to feeding a growing population with limited resources, public opinion is making an effort to do so on the basis of a sustainable model, which includes, among others, an increasingly serious commitment to social well-being and respect for environment.
Even more evidently, this attention has been transformed into a precise demand from consumers who have shown a clear preference for agricultural foods free of any type of residue of chemical synthesis materials. It is precisely on the basis of this stimulus that Zero Residue agriculture is born, the response of respect for human beings towards the environment in which they live and, consequently, the need of the market, which no longer accepts only to produce and consume, but asking to do so in accordance with a green and sustainable philosophy.
Residuo Zero is not synonymous with "organic farming".
Although there are notable similarities and the inputs used in organic farming are equally usable even in the case of Zero Residue, the organisms that certify the different cultivation methods respond to mainly different criteria.
In organic farming, the materials used during the crop cycle and post-harvest must be included in the regulations established by the corresponding certifiers. In the Zero Residue area, on the other hand, we intend to obtain crops that do not exceed the maximum limits of chemical residues proposed by the corresponding Community authorities, favoring the use of natural biostimulants, biofungicides and biopesticides as well as auxiliary fauna. This is because we intend to promote respect and the natural balance of the agro-environmental ecosystem.
The "Zero Residue" voluntary certification represents one of the recent and most interesting evolutions within the Italian production landscape, especially because the values underlying the method are perceived by the consumer more easily, in a clear and unambiguous way. A model that can and must be spread. The “Residuo Zero” responds to a demand for higher quality and attention to health and the environment.
It is a new lifestyle choice, aimed at producing the best in the best possible way while respecting nature and the environment.
